Beth Harms
Beth Harms was born and raised in rural Illinois. She finished her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Anderson University (IN) in December of 1997. She worked in the public school system for one year as a teacher’s assistant and was an assistant coach for the middle school’s girls’ basketball & track teams. In the summer of 1999 Beth moved to Nashville to be closer to her brother. In a small private school she taught 5th/6th science and 5th/6th/7th/8th English for two years.
In the spring of 2001, Beth married Tim, a Brentwood native. They have three children (Abigail, Noah, and AP). Two are Academy Tutorial graduates and are now attending college. Their youngest is currently a 10th grader. They began homeschooling 17 years ago, when their oldest was in preschool. The Harms have been blessed to be a part of the Academy community since 2017.
Beginning in college, working with youth in church programming and summer camps, Beth has always appreciated the relationship building that accompanies teaching. Her most favorite place to be is with her family. Beth also loves their cat, Bingley, walking with friends, following sports teams, listening to audiobooks, and creating with her hands–cooking, gardening, and working on small home improvement projects.
