Hannah Laurenson
Hannah Laurenson is originally from Nashville but grew up near Annapolis, Maryland. After being homeschooled K-12 (except for a wonderful year of primary school in England), she graduated from the University of Maryland in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Government & Politics and a Certificate in East Asian Studies. Having tutored students in math since she was 14, she decided to pursue teaching math instead of engaging in diplomacy and politics. Hannah and her husband, Bryan, met in middle school and attended a high school tutorial their parents created, which is very similar to The Academy Tutorial — and which still operates today! They married in 2006 and promptly moved to sunny Florida, where Hannah taught for six years at a Title 1 middle school, spending three years completing her Alternative Certification Program in Mathematics 6th-12th. After moving back “home” to Nashville in 2012, she privately tutored, taught at the Charlotte Mason Elementary Tutorial, and offered math and science classes from her home before focusing on her own children’s education. Hannah has homeschooled their three daughters since the oldest began Kindergarten in 2016 and they worship as a family at Church of the Redeemer in Oak Hill. When not homeschooling, she can be found hiking, swimming, gardening (poorly), reading, rearranging furniture, dreaming up inventio
