Larry Rhodes

Curious about how machines worked while growing up, Larry would disassemble and then reassemble any piece of equipment he could get his hands on, toys, pens, bicycles, lawn mowers and cars. He also enjoyed making things in his father’s woodworking shop. This led to an interest in Industrial Arts classes in high school where Larry discovered drafting, the art of creating technical drawings. Drafting is a technique used to design almost every object imaginable; it is common in industry and engineering. Larry’s interest in drafting continued into college and beyond. When he started teaching, drafting was always included in some form. As a result, he now has over 35 years in education.

Drafting has changed over the years. Gone are the days of T-squares, triangles, and compass. Like so many other things, drafting is now done on a computer and is known as CAD, short for computer aided drafting (or design).

Husband to Joy for 35 years, Larry calls Maury County home. As amazing as Nashville is, there’s something about living in the country Larry finds appealing.
