Rebecca Metcalfe
Rebecca moved to Nashville in 1989 to attend Belmont University where she earned a BS in education with a focus on middle school grades. She met her husband Campbell while they were high school students in Oklahoma City, but they did not date until they ran into each other at a Nashville restaurant six years after graduation. God sometimes works in mischievous ways ;)
In 2023, Rebecca finished twenty-three years of homeschooling the four Metcalfe kids. The family lived in Indiana for several years where Louis, the oldest son, completed high school. Upon moving back to Nashville, Jane, the second oldest, took classes at The Academy her senior year and met her husband, Matthew Shepherd. We feel like homeschool royalty having married into the Shepherd clan. The two youngest Metcalfes, Ward and Sara Caroline graduated from The Academy in 2019 and 2023.
With three of the Metcalfe kids married and one in college, Rebecca now has more time to invest outside her home. She and Campbell helped facilitate a parenting class at their church and are now helping with children’s church. Rebecca enjoys spending time with Campbell, crocheting, participating in a mother/daughter Precept Bible study, and stealing free moments with sister Sara Wood. Her other great passion is listening to sermons and audiobooks. Dr. R.C. Sproul is her absolute favorite.
Rebecca is thrilled to begin teaching at The Academy. She has a passion to help students establish a secure foundation in math, so they will be prepared to succeed in upper level math courses.
